A Pre NCT is a vehicle check completed before a National Car Test - a compulsory vehicle inspection programme in Ireland.

The aim of the NCT is to improve road safety and emissions. All cars over 4-years-old must pass an NCT every two years. For vehicles aged 10 years or more, an NCT is required every year.

This inspection covers over 40 checks, including the most common failure items as published annually by the NCT.
