While clear vision is desirable in any situation, it is absolutely vital at the wheel of your car. So if your headlights do not light up correctly, go to your First Stop workshop and avoid safety problems.
WHY DO THE HEADLIGHTS DETERIORATE?
The car headlights are continually exposed to weather conditions and the highway, and although made with very tough synthetic materials, suffer from bad weather and the mileage travelled. This means they do not light up properly. Impaired lights can reduce visibility by up to 50%.
The sun burns the surface of the car's headlights and makes it more opaque, turning them yellow and reducing their brightness and range. Accumulated dirt and insects, and scratches caused by small, repeated impacts while driving also affect the surface of your headlights. All these problems disappear when you clean your lights.
WHEN DO I HAVE TO CLEAN THE HEADLIGHTS?
Whenever you see that the headlights do not shine clearly or the range of the lights is significantly reduced, go to one of our workshops so we can service them.
If you often drive at night, or experience a period of bad weather, you should pay special attention to the state of your headlights, since your visibility at the wheel can be compromised. Lights in poor conditions can also increase your visual fatigue, and impair your response times.
If you are coming up to the MOT, remember that the condition of the car’s lights is an essential aspect: you will be penalised if they are not working correctly.
At First Stop, our team of experts will clean the headlights, restoring their former translucence and clarity, so they are once more bright and properly effective. So that you can leave on a beacon of light.
WHY CLEAN THE HEADLIGHTS
- Improves the efficiency of the headlights
- Makes driving safer
- Improves the appearance of your vehicle
- Avoids visual fatigue
CAN I CLEAN MY LIGHTS AS OFTEN AS I WANT, OR IS THERE A LIMIT?
Lights can be cleaned many times. It all depends on how far they have deteriorated. If the scratches are very deep, excess cleaning may cause cracks which make them unusable.
CAN I TAKE MY CAR THROUGH THE CAR WASH IF I HAVE CLEANED THE LIGHTS?
First Stop's cleaning process is fine for car wash treatments, but not with a jet wash.
CAN I BUY A KIT AND WASH THE HEADLIGHTS MYSELF?
At First Stop, after cleaning the lights, we apply a final varnish which will protect the surface of the light in future. If this varnish is not properly applied, or sufficient drying time allowed, bubbles or lines may form and the bodywork can be marked and the paintwork damaged. You would have to come back for the surface to be rubbed down and the operation repeated, as if you were starting with a seriously damaged light. The best thing is to hand over to the experts to get optimum results.
